Can You Afford A Downloadable NDA?

Affordable NDA

Can you afford an NDA prepared by a lawyer of solicitor? Before researching on the cost of an NDA, business owners will often resort to free downloads. Whether they’re start-ups or small businesses, or even struggling businesses, any costs need to be closely monitored. As a business owner, you know the importance of keeping costs to a minimum and you will likely have learnt how to start and run a business with the bare minimum cost. We’ve all been there, scooping up any freebies to make things happen and lift a business off the ground.

How To Not Be A Freebie Mug

Companies offer freebies for various reasons, one of which is to collect valuable data from potential customers. Why would a company offer you a good service from the kindness of their heart, without a price tag? Consider this: a chocolatier offers free chocolate to passers by. People will be given a free taster, which will invariably be about an inch or so in size. You’re not getting a whole bon-bon or a box. You’re only getting a taster. If you need a box of chocolates for a gift, you need to purchase a whole box. And an inch won’t give you a fair idea of the quality of the chocolate.

A Taster Isn’t The Real Thing

Another example is free cyber security. Why would a company give away adequate security for your computer and systems, with absolutely nothing in return for their hardwork? Any freebies from a cyber security company are the bare minimum that won’t protect your systems from a real cyber attack. It will be a taster the size of an inch. You won’t know what you’re getting for that freebie until you have security issues. But if you pay for cyber security, you’re getting the full works. And if you happen to end up with issues, the cyber security company is responsible to sort it out.

Pay For The Real Thing

The point is, there’s nothing wrong with tasters. Take a small bite of chocolate, use the first month of a service for free but know when to not use a freebie for something as seriously important as a legal document. You can’t use a non-disclosure agreement for one month absolutely free and then pay for the rest of the time you use it. You can’t take a small bite off it either. If it’s a legal document, even a free template is like a small bite of the real thing. Unless you’re a legal expert in the field, how will you know what to include in your NDA? You need to pay for the real thing, to get the real thing.

NDA Prepared By A Legal Expert

If you need an NDA for your business, you need to speak to a legal expert. Whether you’re the owner of a corporate business or a sole trader, your business cannot afford a downloadble NDA. If you’re a sole trader and need to keep your costs to a bare minimum, speak to a legal expert and let them know what your budget is and what is the nature of your business, your relationship with those who’ll be served with an NDA.
