Never Attend An Event Without Your Business Cards
Business success means knowing how to connect with people by actively listening, then presenting them with a business card and a personal guarantee that you will follow up. Your business cards should be neat and show your name and contact details. Never give out smudged, bent, scribbled on cards to anyone. You have to protect your cards because they represent you and your business when you’re not there. Protecting your cards means protecting your image.
Business networking event organisers will do their utmost to make you feel welcome. They need your presence. So never turn up at a business networking event without business cards because it shows you don’t care enough about your business or the event. Without a business card your face will be forgotten. Without a follow up you might be forgotten also. Make the experience memorable.
When you hand your cards to people, you’re entrusting your cards with your image; people you meet need to look at your card and think of a business person with standards. They need to remember who you are. You can either get the ultimate luxury business cards, complete with gold embossed logos and a fine texture finish, or something quirky and memorable, or just plain black and white cards, with nothing but your name and contact details.
If you add a line explaining what it is that you do for other businesses, even better. This will remind people of who you are and how you can help them. Keep those cards in a box or somewhere that will protect them. Never attend an event without your business cards.
